Teenage School Issues

On the issue of teenage school issues, I speak from my own experiences from my own teenager. Issues I believe began to arise about the fifth or sixth grade. Her interest began to change, and trying to get her to focus was a huge job. Her grades started falling, school uniforms soon became a thing of the past, and her wardrobe for school became somewhat questionable.

Interest in math was replaced by boys, her taste in music was less desirable, MTV was a constant distraction, and not the greatest influence on her young mind. The telephone became an issue, as teenage girls love drama, gossip and to build animosity between each other.

Going to school became a chore, and just getting her motivated to get dressed for it became a daily challenge and an added stress on me as a parent. Phone calls soon began rolling in, phone calls from the school.

I especially love the part when you are trying to set rules and consequences, and your teenager is rolling their eyes and yawning, as if you do not know what you are talking about.

I do believe we probably have gone through about eight or nine schools from public to private, including a boarding school in Utah. Teenage school issues are signs of a struggling teenager, and should be addressed immediately before they escalate.
